Cornelius Smith, 79, evangelist, born Burwell

Sarah Smith, 73, born Cambridge

Cornelius was the father of ‘Gipsy’ Smith. Cornelius lived 1831-1922 and was early in his life in and out of jail for various offences. He heard the gospel from prison chaplains and from 1873 ‘The Converted Gypsies’ were involved in numerous evangelistic efforts.
