SCHOOL ATTENDANCE CASES. The following educational cases were heard: – For neglecting to send their children to school : Henry Squires, of 66, Sturton Street, attendance order made ; Joseph Johnson, of 7, Albert Street, New Street, order made ; Walter Rowings, of 70, York Street, order made ; John Everett, of 2, Geldart Street, order made ; Thomas Gladwell, of 16, Charles Street, two children, order made in each case ; Joseph Finkell, of Abbey Street, order made ; Maria Chisholm, of Fitzroy Street, order made. For disobeying Magistrates’ orders; Mary Ann Smith, of 57, Norfolk Street, was fined 3s. ; Henry Christopher Scott, of the Sun Inn, Newmarket Road, fined 2s. 6d. ; Thomas Brunton Craft, of 79, York Street, fined 1s. ; James Peters, of 14, Cambridge Place, fined 3s; John Utteridge, of 5, Britannia Place, fined 1s.

Cambridge Independent Press 23.10.1908: DRUNK AND DISORDERLY – Joseph Utteridge, labourer, of 5, Britannia place, was summoned for being drunk and disorderly in East Road on October 11th.—P.c, Nelson stated that at 9.15 Sunday, October 11th, he saw the defendant very drunk and disorderly. His grandmother was trying to get him indoors. When witness spoke to him defendant used bad language. The Bench imposed fine of 5s.
